My last EP “Going Insane” wasn’t depressing but it did plod along. My next EP I totally plan on making it an upbeat and jolly affair. It’s how I feel these days. I’m a happy person. My goal is to try to convey this emotion through the medium of music. It’s not really something I’ve ever attempted before so it’ll be interesting!

I bought a bunch of 7″ singles the other day and one of those was “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell. It’s always been one of my favourite songs and I’m not sure why but I’ve never heard it sound as good until I heard it on vinyl.

I’m a fan of synthesiser music and there is just something about it that make it sound cracking on vinyl. I do have a theory that it’s because it was recorded with the pure intention of being on vinyl. Listening to it on CD is obviously technically better because there is no static or scratches but CD do have a somewhat of a sterile quality to them.

As fair as the B-side goes it’s certainly a weird one. It’s a cover of the Supreme’s “Where Did Our Love Go?”. It’s got the overtones of “Tainted Love” but then it is Soft Cell’s sound. Lovely stuff.

My record box is pretty White Stripes heavy. Well they are one of my favourite bands. The first of their records I’m going to talk about is their 7″ single “You Don’t Know What Love Is (You Just Do What You’re Told)”. I’m not a fan of the A side. It’s not a particularly strong song. The B-side is however a fantastically performed track called “A Martyr For My Love For You”. I never really paid much attention to this song before but this acoustic performance is just magical!

I love this album so much. It just has everything you could possibly want from an album. It’s electric, it’s German and it’s a bit weird. I’m listening to it right now as I right now.

If you’ve not heard “Autobahn” I cannot recommend it highly enough. The title track is over 22 minutes long and it’s an absolute masterpiece of electronic, experimental music. No one has ever come close to making anything as special as that for quite some time.

I am currently in the process of collecting my favourite albums on vinyl. The reason for this is because I long ago got rid of my CD player and have no other way to listen to music except for my PC. So rather than get another CD player I thought I might as well get a record player to enjoy music as it was supposed to be listnened to.

I am going to be posting my collection as it expands.
